The Protect the Dolores Coalition

We are a coalition of conservation organizations, community groups, and businesses advocating for the conservation of nearly 400,000 acres of public lands in Mesa and Montrose county as the proposed Dolores Canyons National Monument.

The Protect the Dolores coalition envisions a permanently protected Dolores River Canyon Country that is managed for the long-term health of our public lands and the Dolores River, for the benefit of local communities, and for the restoration and protection of biodiversity and cultural resources. We aim to help preserve existing ecosystems, restore what has been lost, renew our communities, and reconnect people to this remarkable place.
